Postby v_isa on Sun Feb 10, 2002 3:39 am

can anyone suggest the best course of action for flesh wounds to oscars.. my oscar suffered a bang to the head which left her with a big gash to the front of her head, whilst i was moving her to a new tank. she doesn't seem in shock and is moving around well but i dont want it to get infected or cause more trauma...what should i do??

This happens all the time... I dont think there is one of us here that hasnt had a banged up oscar. The best cure for it is to add 1 tbs of aquarium salt per 10 gallons of water and then raise the temp to 80-82 degrees. It should be totally healed without a trace within a week. If you are worried about infection or fungus then you can add some Melafix to the water as well. If the fish is swimming and eating normally I wouldnt panic.
