Hello I'm form the UK so i don't do US gallons,

anyway iv got a tank like 2 1/2 foot long 2 tiger O's and 4 silver dollars, I'm after either a JD/convict/ or green terror , should i get one or two so they can have a pal?  :occasion14:

I'm looking at getting a 6 foot tank for X mas to house the fish. all fish no bigger than 2 inches at the moment

Cheers  :toothy9:

Give the measurements and I can figure out the gallons you have.. Also, ONE oscar does fine, but you need a big tank 100 gal  378.5 liters  OR more to have a nice tank for a Oscar and friends.. On tank mates, ALWAYS get just one of each, say the GT wil give you color and they swim same as the Oscar, the JD is more of a hider so you wont' see him much..Convicts are both, and stay mostly at the bottom,  a male gets to 6" and should be fine with any of them.. A JD wil grow faster than the GT so get them now, so they ajust to each other and the Oscars.. Caves are necessary for a while as they grow.. Even a small Oscar wil try to eat a long bodied fish, so watch that.. On paris, once u do the couples, fry come along and makes it havic in the tank.. Pairs should always have their OWN tank,, and then you need another one for the fry for several months.. SO just one of each wil give U a good display tank...
For now they are fine until U get the bigger tank.. Xmas is only 2 monthss away..

Now THE tank YOU said you had in your first post was :: "iv got a tank like 2 1/2 foot long"  SO I am confussed here on how this tank got to be 6ft x 2ft x 2ft.. AND that is a 180 gal tank or 681.3 liters.. :dontknow:

So what is the REAL deminsions of the tank YOU HAVE THE OSCARS IN NOW???

The GT is a great choice, but remember they grow slower than what the Oscar is going to do once U get him in a bigger tank.. BUT he should do fine....
IF you get this 681.3 liter tank, you can have a lot more BIG american cichlids than what you have planed now.. JUST NO PAIRS!! Try for all males as they have the best finage and size you are looking for...

NOW about that 2 1/2 foot tank you have...How about the measurements for THAT TANK??  :toothy9:

I figured as much.. ON the smaller tank, that is a 29 gal tank.. OR 110 liters..

DON"T add in any more to this 110 li  tank  until U get the bigger tank.. THEN you can add in more.. That Oscar is going to get big fast.. and the tank is going to get crowed by then too.. So wait PLEASE on the others...  tmbsup
