New to this hobby

Hi guys,

Just started to this hobby.  I got 3 oscars (Tiger, Red, Green).  Just salvage an aquarium and planning to get a new 75 gallon.

I've never heard of a green oscar. A lot of people make up names for them..black oscars..tattoo oscars. Looks like 1 red and 2 tiger oscars to me!!

Is that Mountain Dew can in the aquarium? lol.

Nice fish,  although I would consider skipping the 75 gallon and go bigger because you'll need it for 3 Oscars.

True. If you bought a 75 gallon, you would just need to upgrade again. I would be a money saver to just jump to the bigger tank.

I have 4 oscars in a 150 gallon tank, and I need to upgrade them to at least a 215, 230 gallon so I feel confident they are happy and have enough room.

They use green Oscar for just your common Oscar around here and from the little bit of the side I can see I'd say its a red, a tiger, and a common, The common will get the red as he grows but more of skatered pattern compared to the defind orange pattern in outline that the tiger has.
Also I'd ditch the can as it will leach toxins in to the water that will more then likely poison and kill you fish,  If its to hold the hose bury it in the gravel or get a rock and put it under the rock with one side of the rock tilted up to direct the flow. Also you will need a BIG filter to deal with the bioload these beasts make (food and pooo every where) What are you running for a filter if its just the corner box and air line I see in the pick you are in big trouble.  I have my 2 growing out in a 55 running a canister filter for 100 gallon and I still have to do a water change every second day or so (Mine are 5 inch and 6 inch now) I would go very big tank wise to keep all three and I would get more if you want to keep them all in one tank cause when they hit 6 - 8 inch the real fun starts and they pair off and fight.  The more you have the better as the aggression is spread, with only 3 in any thing smaller then 150 and they are sure to scrap and the smallest will get the s@#t kicked out of it as the larger 2 will  pair and eliminate the smaller, then when they kill that one if they still don't have enough room they will turn on each other. (I learned this the hard way :crybaby2:)
Hope I didn't suck all the fun out of the hobby for you already, but the heathlier you fish are the happier they are and the more fun they will be.
I started the same way years ago with my first fish as an O, have tried others but always come back to the O's, they're just the best "pet" wise do to the personality they have and the way the interact with their caregivers.  Good choice and have fun  tmbsup
