New tank

Postby Richard Platts on Sun Jun 27, 2004 9:29 pm

I've finally moved and set up the new 75 gal in my dining room. The thing is huge compared to my old set up and the fish seemed happy to explore their huge new home. I'm not sure if I am imagining it or not, but the fish seem to grow more quickly in this tank. Also, my pleco who was always kind of boring in color is now a beautiful patterned mix of tan and black. Could this be the natural gravel color i picked instead of the old tank's black stone?

Things are looking great.

Second question.

In the future (next summer) I am going to have to be out of country for about 6 weeks. I have some reliable friends & family around here (water changes periodically), but as far as feeding, does anyone have any recommendations on an automated feeder? I've seen some online, but could use a hint.

Thanks

Rich

hello richard...well if u have reliable friends then dont worry bout an auto feeder.just set out the daily food in small bags or pots..dont give em the option of thinkin "oh just a little more will be ok" hide the main source of food and u should be ok...ive done it myself and remember its only to keep your fish goin whilst your away.u could probably get away with them not doin any water changes aswell in that time...its onlys 6 weeks....6 weeks without a water change aint gonna kill any fish providing there not overfed or your tank isnt overstocked.i speak from experiance here and my tanks have gone 6-7 weeks without water changes and ive managed to breed most of my fish to date....good luck matey..hope this helps.:)

p.s i know someone will have something to say about this.:D
but u dont have to do everything by the book.just common sense..;)
