New 70 gal. stand

Postby tug on Wed Sep 07, 2005 11:13 pm

Well I picked up a new 70 gal. about a month ago, and now I'm building a stand for it. I built it out of 2x4's and sheeted it in 3/4" plywood. I built it to look like a window tank (all sides covered exept the front which is framed in to look like a window). I found some great rocks on a site called Z-brick.com. It looks just like graystone but about a 1/4 of the weight. I'm going to cover the whole thing in graystone to give it the image of looking into a cave. Large stones will be placed in the tank along with a 3D background I found at Pangea rocks.com. The stand will set the tank at a hieght of 3 1/2' tall, so total hieght will be about 6'. I looks really great so far just finished the frame and sheeting. I have posted a picture of the stand today so take a look at it and tell me what you think.

To avoid any smart comments down the road, I am no carpenter or stone mason. So one side may be about 6" shorter than the other, and some of the corners are at 45 degrees instead of 90's. I still think I'm pretty darn good at this hammer and nail thing!!:D

O.k I'm shuttin' up.

It looks really nice.

I am no carpenter either, but that looks like quite the sturdy setup.

Good luck with it!
