So i've moved my 55 gal from a huge loft to a small apt. Now I notice a pretty bad smell that the tank has been emitting for the past few weeks. It seems the water has it's own distint smell, and that smell isn't too pleasing..

Any idea how to rid my apt of the fish water smell??? It's killin me!!!

Well do a large water change on the tank, some time you can get a nasty smell when you stir up the gravel. It has happened to me a few times, it just when your gravel is to thick. If you do a large water change it should take care of the problem.
Another thing it could be is that your tank is going through a small cycle and when they cycle they let off a dead fish smell.

As for the ridding the smell, all I can say is use a deoderizer. It should kill off the smell. If you do water changes often you shouldn't have this problem.
