Miraclebeam Lazer Treasure Chest

Here's a quote from Big Al's for an underwater treasure chest decoration that lights:
The miraclebeam laser treasure chest system is the most revolutionary aquarium device in the world today. After years of testing on tropical fish (fresh and saltwater), the miraclebeam laser treasure chest system was developed to enhance the color, life span, disease resistance, and growth rate of all your tropical fish. The miraclebeam laser reproduces a spectrum of the sun is natural light that is inherent in tropical and reef environments. The miraclebeam laser treasure chest system should be left on 8 to 12 hours per day for maximum effectiveness. (May be left on continuously)

what!? Anybody have any experience with this? Is it legit?

Miraclebeam Lazer Treasure Chest

Interesting Thread to start.

Not me Mark, in fact the first time I have heard of one. Given the marketing you posted I would vote no. My logic, first the name. I come from an electronics background, (Electronical Engineer Tech)
a laser, is a single light spectrum beam. My guess would be they have packaged several low power beams in one. Red spectrum light is the easist to amplfy. However the higher you go up in the light spectrum, the more expensive it becomes to both make, and to power. Therefore, I doubt the device is a "laser", given the meaning of the word. (light amplificatiion by means of stimulated electronic radiation). I suspect it is simply, red lasers, at best, with coloured lense's. I agree trying to give a true light spectrum to closely mimic the fish's natural enviroment is a worthy goal to achive. In respect to giving the fish more colour, that I doubt, but the lighting might "show off" the fish's colour better. Disease risistance?? How? If I have poor water quality, no light in existance is going to keep my fish healty. Now if the light gives of some form of radiation, that might kill some of the possible cause's of fish disease, but would that radiation not also harm the fish? Lastly growth rate, well I guess if the fish feels more at home, it might feed better and grow more rapidly.

Did they list the price?

Curious to hear some other thoughts on the matter.
