Making a reverse osmosis system?

Postby cockatoos on Thu Nov 18, 2004 1:59 pm

I'd like information on making a home-made reverse osmosis system and how to create softer water for my discus. I'm using wood for them, from the amazon forest, however I am interested in doing it better than that...

Also, any discus in California who are being sold or given away? Let me know. I am interested.

It costs more to make one then buy one (unless you plan on makeing several it not worth it)

If you just want your water a little softer use peat moss

If you really want an R/O - check ebay  there's a few places that sell brand new r/o's there = I got mine there a new,100 gallon per day, 5 stage R/O with a deionizer for under $70.00 shipped.

IF you still want to build your own it'll cost you:
Prefilters -(3) $20+
prefilter houseing (3)- $35+
r/0 membrain and houseing- $50 + depending on the flow rate
plumbing (hardware and tubeing,teflon tape,etc..) $20
- SO figure $110 - $140

Try checking with Bruce at Majestic - he usually has them
