Yep I lived in Fort Wainwright (Fairbanks) for a few months back when I was in Highschool.
What was the occasion, fishing expedition?
Fishing , hunting ,sightseeing and visiting family
Oportunity to do it all cheap, almost free so couldn't say no
The cool part of limited daylight was the Northern Lights,we see them over Lake Erie (in Ohio) during the winter and people think they're cool but I watched them on some hunting trips in the middle of nowhere with no city's or lights around, nothing but snow far as you could see and they were a lot better, faster, brighter and more colorful
Unfortunately they don't show up to well on tape or film
Isn't there supposed to be a time when sun doesn't really completely set so there's some light 24/7?
Yes their summer light period runs like morning, day, breif dusk , starts over. Unfortunately I was there in winter, seen video of it in summer 2am was like 9am (as far as light) but WOW the bugs
