Has anyone any experience with either dwarf lionfish or the volitan lionfish.??

I know that they are predatory fish and there sizes are completely different,but do they adapt well in captivity?like my books suggest?

They are actually pretty easy to keep as long as you have the space.
I have kept both for a number of years(I no longer have salt though). The biggest problem you will face isn't acclimation, its getting them off of live food. I would usually try to get them on frozen shrimp from the store. The way I would usually trick them is drop the piece infront of a water jet it would shoot across the tank and they would grab it.
Other than that they are just as easy to keep as an oscar and just as messy.

Hi my tank is about 80gals.
Im not sure if i want a community set up or species set up?i think if i go for the lionfish(volitan) i will only really have room for 1.as i have seen them up to 15inches.

Any suggestions on a tankmate?

they are one of my favorite salt water fish if i ever get a salt water tank thats the one fish i would get!
