Lighting question for nocturnal fish

Postby Lynsey on Tue Jul 16, 2002 12:00 am

I have a synodontis angelicus that I never see.  Someone told me that they have there lights on timers, and when the regular daytime lights go out, the red light turns on.  She said that then her catfish come out to feed, and you can see them when the light is on.  I thought that sounded like a cool idea.

Any ideas, or comments about this?  Would I just use a regular red light that you can get at the store?  Or are there special aquarium lights?  What wattage?  I have a 75 gallon.
