Try massaging to free the eggs and put salt in the tank at a rate of 1 table spoon per 10 gallons to help relieve stress.

Freindly Note:
I can understand the urgency of your post but being rude will tend to leave your post unanswered. You also have to understand that most members here are from America and the time difference is a problem.

I also havent been on much because of the flu and my son is in hospital

Just so people here know.
After ringing Mick it sounds like a case of bloat and probably not eggbound. Bloat can be hard to cure so lets hope she goes ok as he has had her a long time.

Hi Savage,

Well, first of all your question has nothing to do with "BREEDING OSCARS". I have bred oscars and so have others here, personally I've never had problems with eggbound oscars, but I think Tony's suggestion is quite sensible in that context. Please give more detailed description of problem since it may help differentiate between bloat and eggbound etc...and please don't use CAPS, it is considered the same thing as YELLING. Thanks,

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing here, not sure exactly what you mean by "bloat" but it sounds like a case of dropsy to me. I have never heard of a female oscar getting eggbound. most times I hear about live bearers getting eggbound. If it is dropsy there is little you can do and will most likely lose the fish. All I can say is get your temp up to 81, add salt and do water changes daily until the problem goes away or the fish dies.

Bloat and Dropsy are simular if not the same.

The cause is usually caused by bad water conditions and poor diet. Not all fish are affected at once but if conditions arnt improved more fatalaties will follow

sounds like constipation to me. Raise the temp of the tank. There is mixed advice as to what to do next. Some say don't feed until shes had a bm, aand others say give bloodworms, brine shrimp, or live food.

C4 has a good point, we need a better description of why you think your fish has bloat....if it's not and is like C4 says, you should try to feed it some live fish or other greasy/meaty meal, yea for lubrication etc....a lot of times fish get messed up like that in pet-stores since they starve them and then dump a bunch of pellets in their tank, they gobble them up REAL quick without breaking them down and they accumulate and don't pass well. Recall writing about this on here before.....it can screw up the bladder sometimes(ie make it float at the top etc...), you'll think your fish has some bladder disease when it doesn't...
