when i woke up this morning and went to feed my fish i noticed Jack (my oscar) had a nasty looking srape above his head right before his dorsal fin, looks like he scraped it against something, got some pics but just wondering what i can do to help make sure it doesn't get any worse, add aquarium salt? medication?

here are the pics:

well i forgot to mention that I did a 10 percent water change yesterday and just finished doing a 20 percent because the nitrate levels were still way to high (i fell behind on my upkeep schedual:( ) hopefully my nitrates will go down, i have resisted putting aquarium salt in for fear it will have ill effect on my pl*co

The salt does help on healing wounds, and won't affect the pleco. Depending on how deep the wound is, it might get a bit of white fungus, which is nothing to worry about. Pretty normal in minor injuries. Use the one tablespoon to ten gallons for your tank. You can go to 1 tablespoon for 5 gallons, but I don't really think you need to for this.
