How's the new server?

Postby cichlidfish on Sat Mar 01, 2003 8:51 pm

Website was temporarily moved to a "temp" server as of Feb 13th, since then some areas were not accessible. Yesterday everthing became active on new server. How is this NEW server, speed wise compared to OLD PRE Feb 13th Server?

Still have the same problem cichlidfish. Do you have any other ideas on how to fix this. I'm using the active threads today link but I would like to know which ones are new and what new has been posted.

Can you try first setting your time again in the user control panel, and then erasing all your temporary cache and cookies if you can. And what link are you accessing the forum from? http://www.cichlidfish.com/portal/forums/

is that the link?

Well, apparently webserver quit late last night, actually think it was like 2 or 3am. Anyway as of today sunday at 1:10pm (Pacific Standard Time) the server is back up running on the "Temporary" server while we iron out some of the problems with the configuration on the new one. thanks and sorry for any bad links in the meantime.

Ok, I just got the new server back up and running so website is running on it again instead of the "temp" server. I'll work on fixing the photogallery later today.

Seems to be running faster.
One prob though and I "think" it may be my firewall causing it.
I keep getting told I have PMs that I have already read and the popup screen wont work when veiwing a new PM.. Like I said I suspect my firewall. zonePro but thought Id mention it incase someone else if having probs

Well I reset the time and deleted the cookies and it is working so hopefully it keeps it up. Thanx again for the help.
Never used the "todays active threads" link. Since this problem I have been using it and its defently much more convient.

Thanx,

Ok, well I've fixed the photogallery. Seems to work fine, uploaded a picture to test as well. And yea I'd agree with you Tony that firewalls are a "major" problem. I tried to show someone the photogallery at their house and they had a firewall on their computer, not sure which one. But anyway, lots of links and pics didn't show and didn't work, the whole thing looked really messed up. I was worried the website was having problems since we tried Netscape and MS IE on his computer and both didn't work. Later finally found out it was his firewall.

And yes, clearing cookies once in a while should help with things. In terms of PM issues, you might want to search the vbulletin.com website for fixes or reported bugs. Version 3.0 of the software is not out yet...

The server definitely seems faster for me also, especially compared to the old pre Feb 13th server. That temporary server is pretty quick too though I think, not sure if it's faster or slower than this new one though.
