I have a breeding pair of oscars in my 65gallon tank. They are very happy in it. :)

Yea 2 O's comfortably, you can throw some others in there but ones that won't get any bigger than 6"-8" or so. Just kinda wing it. some fish have a higher tollerance for others in the tank esp. if they are put in when the tank is relatively foriegn to them. It's gonna be a trial and error thing. If the fish hate each other you will know it, but if they coenside, you will have nice looking fish, ya know one's that actually have fins. So give it a shot, but don't spend $30 bucks on one fish to have him get eaten or torn up by the end of the day.

Getting fish that get along is a long shot, I'd stay with one. I keep two in a 55 but I want to upgrade to a 75 or a 150.Who paid $30 for an oscar why?

Common an oscar NEEDS a buddy! don't keep the poor oscar all alone, I remember when I had 6 oscars in my 65gallon, yea they were smaller, around 5". Anyway, I had one oscar that was always getting beat up but was Definitely a LOT happier in the tank with the others getting beat up then all alone in his own tank.

Get a Jack Dempsey, they're smaller than oscars generally speaking.

My oscar get's so excited when I put feeders in it, but they're all gone by the next day. I think he needs company, another fish in with your Jaws would be great! But try this...When I hold a mirror up to Jack he flips out....If yours does too, maybe you should try a Jack dempsy or another kind of cichlid. He may be too agressive for another oscar if he flips at his reflection...Unless, of course, He views it as a threat. In which case another oscar of a different size might work. As long as he still "thinks" he's the boss, he should be ok. LOL

When I posted earlier, I meant $30 bucks on other fish. Meaning not an oscar. IE. Gold Dust Pl*co, or even a royal. If they are new to the tank whereas your O's knows the tank quite well, mabey they(other fish) will get hurt cause they doesn't know where the hiding places are. I mean don't get me wrong, Pl*co's are tough, but there's something about a territorial Oscar...you know. Like he said try a fish thats smaller and faster than your O if you don't have any luck with another oscar. Trial and error dude. That's all I can say. All fish are different.

even if you want to try a pleco or something all you have to do is after you put him in change the scenery around a bit. this way all of the old fishes teritorial bounderies are thrown off and its like you put him in a different tank. this way both fish are getting used to the new setting at the same time. but if your $30 dollar pleco gets his *** kicked don't blame me cause you never really know how a fish will act towards a new tank mate.
