I just bought a new oscar a week ago, and i have found a parasite on its tail. I am unsure what kind. how do i find out what kind of parsite it is, and how to treat the tank properly?

Can you describe it, or post a picture of it. There are a lot of parasites but even giving a simple description will aid in helping identify it.

round, looks like it has a lot off legs, it is some what see though with a brown stip going though the center

Sounds like fish louse. They can be removed physically, but its stressfull to the fish. You could try something like jungle parasite guard, or any type specifically for parasites like fish louse.

I use aquarium salt for ick and other parasites, it is much less stressful than medications. I tablespoon per 5gal. This has always worked for me.
