Getting them to tango...

got new pinks, now what

Ok, I've got a 110 gallon tank with several cichlid types in it. 3 zebra convicts, 3 pink convicts, and 2 jack dempsy's. although it's a nice large tank and there is plenty of room for all the fish, i am worried about the new pink fry. currently the fry are separated from the rest of the herd in a floating "nursery". but the parents are going ballistic. nosing around, looking through every nook and cranny frantically trying to find the babies. should i let out the babies and have the parents protect them essentially exposing them to the elements or keep the separate and not really worry about the parents tenacity in finding their fry

You could keep the other fish further away from the pink's and their fry using a divider or something so as to not make them as nervous in protecting their fry. Or you can take out one or both of the convicts and move them to another small tank for a while and just leave the fry in there. (sorry didn't see this sooner, hope you came up with a good solution..)
