GH and water treatments...

Postby FolkTurtle on Wed Mar 06, 2002 1:24 am

Hi all,
This was said about GH:
"So even if you add a chemical treatment to lower the PH of the water to say 7.0... within a few days the water would be back at 8.0 because all your dissolved minerals are still in the water. The only reliable way to lower PH is to lower your buffers, which means you have to lower KH and GH." and that GH is generally only a concern w/ delicate fish..

So are products like NovAqua useful for oscars? Just wondering.

Thanks,
Lisa

not sure about those products, but the quote is basically true.....make your water softer and you can lower the pH.....
