Is a male zebra con less purple in color than the female??? Mine are about 2 inches

I don't know about that, but female convicts will have that orange-reddish color on bellies when they're getting ripe....

Male p.zebs are colourfull especially the most dominant one, females are usually plain grey.
When they mate the female incubates the eggs in her mouth and will only release the fry after a week or 2, so they dont really eat during this time.

My bad, i thought you were referring to traditional "zebra" pattern convict Image guess you were talking about Malawi P. zebra thanks to Tony for being on track Image

I'm pretty sure he is talking about the common zebra convict, at least that is the way I read the post. "...male zebra con"

Just to clarify, you should refer to them as striped convicts... this is a more generally accepted name for them, and causes less confusion.

Yeah Joe is right about the pink colouring for the female and the males usually have a longer pointy dorsal fin.

My problem is I don't drink "any" coffee, I don't drink any "sodas", basically i'm not getting any caffeine.......NO WONDER I don't feel so good! :)
