female convict behavior

Postby smillermom on Sat May 06, 2006 8:27 am

I have 2 females, both rather small. They both share a 37 gallon together as the only fish. The one female has a very pronounced orange markings and is staying in one location in the tank, hardly moving, and whenever the other comes near her, she is extremely aggressive towards her. She goes right back to the same spot. Could she be laying eggs? Without the male to fertilize the eggs, if she does, what do I do and what behavior should I expect? Thanks!

The female with the orange markings is laying eggs, get a male,(this will be a large convict with no orange), and if you get a male you either need to add more fish, or get rid of the other female.
