Well, I've fed them to trout, but haven't tried them in an aquarium. What they mostly have to offer IMO is that you can buy them in serious bulk. However, if you don't have a trout pool's worth of fish to feed, they're liable to get older than ideal by the time you use them up, thus defeating the vitain addatives most of the pellet makers put in them. There are lots of good cichlid pellets available, in quantities to suit the number of fish we're keeping. You can find floating, sinking, or slowly sinking pellets, depending on what your guys prefer, and in about 5 different sizes. If you give them a good staple pellet (I prefer to alternate between different one -- can't swear whether I'm more concerned about the fishes' boredom or my own). Every now and then a treat of mealworms, frozen whatevers, or FD whatever else keeps them entertained. Just remember, fish can't read!
