i wouldnt worry about the metal leeching into the water, but i would worry if it can try to eat it. but even if he tried, i doubt he'll go all the way and try to swallow it. its better to be safe than sorry, so maybe just take everything out and bury it deep (doubt it will help tho..they can really tug it out). well, hope the eldoea was cheap cuz its gone down the hatch.

I put a clump of plants rubberbanded together through the hole in a lava rock and kind of tucked the bottom of the plants underneath. I also have done this with artificial plants. My O's have never gotten to the rubberband and they can still move the plant and rock around, but the plant doesn't come floating up to the surface. I was worried about the metal bands too and decided better safe than sorry and took them off.

Thanks folks,
I put her toy octopus through one bunch of plants and a rock in the other's rubberband. The guy at the LFS said the plants wouldn't grow if they weren't in the gravel...

The fish is having a blast swimming through them. Perhaps they tickle or feel good.
