electric? electric motors? relays?

Postby stilllearnin on Tue Oct 07, 2003 12:16 pm

Anyone browsing the forums good with electric stuff? electric motors or maybe relays by any chance?

Trying to fix a sign I bought that has a motor with 3 gears in it - the gears look like they're made to turn a rheostat that in turn ,turns on and off different circuits to make lights blink and rotate depending how a toggle switch is set. Tested everything with a voltage meter and power makes it thru everywhere but for some reason it still doesn't work confused: , any Ideas?

The other idea I had was if I can't make the motor work right was to make the lights flash and/or rotate by relays? anyone know how that could be done? I know how to do it in a car but I'm sure those type of relays would fry plugged into a wall outlet:confused:

got the neon working so one down ,one to go but this one isn't cooperating very well yet

Maybe just make an electronic ciruit to make the lights light up in sequence etc....the gears did nothing but synchronize the lighting? or just replace the motor maybe?
