Nice. How big is it now and does it share a tank with other fish? My dovii are currently 9"(male) and 5"(female). I have a breeding pair. Image

Only 5 inches aprox
Hes not a community fish but was in with a large blind oscar but is now on his own in a 45g He will be eventually going into at least a 100g tank in about august 2002
Im tracking down a female while he is still small and possibly breed them. They are not the easiest cichlid to get here Image
I have been feeding him red devil babies that I cant sell due to being too small. Sounds cruel but dovii eat other cichlids in the wild so its pretty natural(I just dont tell my kids Image ). They are the iron men of the cichlid world for sure.

That pic is of a Hoplias malabaricus or wolf fish

mine is a Nandopsis dovii or wolf cichlid.

Its still a baby and there are some simularities with a Herichthys managuensis or Jaguar Cichlid but not a lot.

oscar2001, are you sure yours is not a female? i saw a mating pair at my lfs and the female was about 5" and the male was about 6 or 7". he was very colorful and the female looked like the one in your picture. it's kind of hard to tell if yours has any coloration from the picture, but the male i saw had purple and blue in him. the female did look quite a bit like possibly a gold jaguar.
