yeah, i feed my severums horse flys (daddy long legs, but with wings..) all the time.

one thing, just pull the jumping legs off them first, cos they can climb up the glass and get out of the tank... altho i doubt theyd last long in your tank lol.

good luck
Craig

did you ever get your turcoise severum by the way indy??

I feed mine crickets from time to time. Big hit. Like Craig says, sometimes one or two will climb out. Good solution, Craig! Never occurred to me.

Indy -- I notice you list a synspillum. How's the temperament? I picked up a young one recently. Can't really say he's living up to his "peaceful" billing.

DanRad,

The synspillum is very peaceful until the firemouths get on him. He can take care of himself when they do.

Biggest thing he does is dig holes in the gravel.

He is one of my favorites!

Thanks. I got this little guy (about 3-4") from someone after he'd mostly recovered from being really racked up by a festae - no caudal or pectoral fins, lots of missing scales. Once the fins started growing out, I put him in a larger tank, where he immediately picked a fight with a GT of similar size. Moved him to a different tank, where he then started fighting with first a sunfish, then a severum. Finally put him in 125 with perch, sunfish, & a dat -- all much bigger. Seems to have cooled him down for the moment. Sheesh!

My Red Devil is the same way, it seems to think its the ruler of all other fish, all she does is is pick fights, and relandscape the tank all day
