I have a 4 inch male and female convict. Lately the male has been displaying his gills and smacking the female with his tail. The female has bright orange and blue on her fins. is this typical convict courtship behavior? if so how long does it last, if not, what IS normal convict behavior,

IT SOUNDS TO ME THAT YOU GOT A GOOD PAIR SO FAR. YES SLAPPING TAILS AND GILL FLARING IS OUIT NORMAL. ONE THING TO REMEMBER IS TO CREATE A GOOD SPAWNING SIGHT.I SUGGEST A MEDIUM SIZE CLAY POT PUT ON IT'S SIDE IN THE CORNER OF THE TANK.
