cloudy water

Postby jason_912 on Sat Dec 29, 2001 11:52 pm

I set up another tank last week(20gal) and I can not seem to get the water to be clear like all of my other tanks. I have a Penguin 300 for filteration which should be plently. The fish in it are small 2 o's (1 inch) I noticed when I had the filter running before the fish were in it the glass on the inside had small white dots all over it. They looked like small parasites or something. They were everywhere so i emptied the tank, ran the gravel under warm water and rinsed everything off really good, and scrubbed the tank. The water seems to be cloudy still though. Any suggestions?

Just part of the cycle by the sounds
If you dont already use it put some carbon in your filter.heres a link on cycling your tank http://www.duboisi.com/nts1.htm

cloudy water

Agreed it sounds like you have some water born bacteria... that is the most common reason for cloudy water, the other is algea but that usually appears green not white. Try giving it a week or so feed a little less and dont do any water changes. Then go back to your normal schedule. That should fix the cloudiness.

I should also add that once the cycle is complete remove the carbon
