I don't know if this is where this should be posted. Lastnight a few of us were in the chat room and were having some difficulties with others. Candice and Katie tryed to keep them off but they just keep coming back and being really bad. We tryed to ignore them, sorta worked, but others were getting pissed and were leaving. I know you can't screen for age but, we couldn't chat because of the idiot conversations and we are all doing so well with getting in to "chat". I would hate to see people not go because of a couple of A**holes. Just thought I'd say something.. Makes me feel better.

I would think joe could contact admins and moderators and let them know how to admin that chat room?

Maybe we could setup some sorta thing which will ignore a particular person so you cant see what their typing.
Something like where an admin or delegated person could kick any drongos outa the room would be good too.(like the pal talk setup)
Unfortunatly I know that these chat clients are not cheap. A good one can cost well over $500.(even seen them for $1000 too)
There are free and cheaper ones but they are limited.
What we need is a person who is good with scripts and is willing to write one for us.

Hi guys! there is a solution and its not that hard I think. First all of you should get familiar with the server commands if possible. try /help and then /help option etc... for example try "/help shun"
also we can set the CHANNEL mode,
ie /mode #cichlidfish +m
do /help mode or /helpserv cmodes
or /helpserv umodes
you will find that you can even send a users comments who is filtered to a channel like #filtered
with a command like /mode #cichlidfish +M #filtered

O yea, I'm looking for someone who can really be dedicated to being a chat server Admin. I'm still in the process of learning the software myself....

Hi,
That's what I've been working on. As in my previous posts I explained how we can "moderate" channels. By setting mode +m on a channel it becomes moderated. ie /mode #cichlidfish +m
this means that only operators(@) and voiced people(+) can speak(be heard) in the channel. To voice a nick and let them speak an operator does /mode #cichlidfish +v nick
If we ALSO do a mode +M (capital M) on the channel, ie /mode #cichlidfish +M #filtered

that command after doing the /mode #cichlidfish +m command will make it so that if a nickname is not voiced, ie didn't get a +v mode, doesn't have a + then whatever they type into the channel will be DIVERTED into the #filtered channel.

We can also do Automatic KICK on a channel. And last of all channel BAN and server BAN. The voicing and /shun commands are a better option in my opinion. Also, having more of you be OPERATORS and server admins will help. You can always learn commands by doing /help or /nickserv help , /chanserv help etc....all of you should make sure to REGISTER your nicknames. If you don't know how then please connect to the chat using this client: http://cichlidfish.com:7000/?theme=colors

it will let you register your nickname/s.

You could always just register a chat room on Mirc. They are free and got all the features you could want. Including banned Ips,mods,bots ect ect

You can use MIRC just fine. In the settings just use "cichlidfish.com" as the server and port 6667 and you're all set.(and set it to join channel #cichlidfish)
