Just collected a couple of these, and don't know what it is. Anyone?

Armoured catfish, pretty rare in the uk ive only seen one many years ago (been replaced by pl*cos) and built like tanks (the armoured kind)

one thing to note, in the UK there are several differant species under the same genus, but they all behave in a similar way.

their really hardy, come from low oxygen ponds, can survive a while out of water and, strangly enough are bubble nest breeders. hope that helps.

(ps, theyd do great in an oscar tank, i wanted on instead of a pleco due to less waste)

Got 2 of these, along with a couple of bluegills, from a ditch by my sister's place in Florida. There were lots, and the temp was pretty cool -- high 20's, low 30's overnight.

The ones introduced into florida are supposed to be Hoplosternum littorale

Well, if anyone wants any, I definitely have a source. There were dozens -- mostly about 3", hanging out with juvie sunfish -- bluegills, I think, though they're pretty young to tell for sure.
