Hahahaha...WOW a breeding pair of Convicts?! I haven't seen tha...nahh, messing with you dude. All you really need to do is make sure there are no other fish in there if its a small tank and put a small orange clay pot in there, on its side, with the back end kind punched out, not all the way though, just kinda make the hole they have in it a bit bigger so water can circulate in it, to keep the eggs from getting a fungus. Convicts are the "rabbits of the fish world" Just as long as you have a pair, they will breed, one has the orange on its belly, and the other doesn't I take it?? Let us know how they do, thanks for the post!!

I bought them a breeding grass patch and some plants. will that work? (they are each 1 1/2" in length including tail fin.)

should I remove my algae eater? (it is bigger than them and does not bother them so far... no fights or any problems when they come in close contact.

agian thanx for help.

You can probably leave the algae eater in there then...just watch for when females stomach gets really orangeish etc....male I think needs to be a bit bigger than 1.5 inch but female I think can spawn even at just 1.5"

BABIES !!!

They had babies... about 50 or 60 by my rough guessing.

I will post pictures when possible.

When and what should I feed the fry?

Also what should I do about tank maintance and such? Any other precautions I should have?

I honestly dont very much about convicts, I'm sure Joe knows but I havent seen him in ages... If I remember correctly though convicts are very good parents and you can leave the fry with them... someone correct me if I'm wrong

Awesome parent. Leave them be. They get a little sick of each other, the mummy and daddy and sometimes beat each other up a little. But in general. Just leave them. If anything, throw in a guppy, or two and then they will try to chase the guppies away instead of beating each other up! Image
