AquaClear 500 vs. Emperor 400

Postby Slipp on Tue Feb 04, 2003 3:30 pm

I'm looking at adding one of these as a second filter in my 80gal Cichlid tank. I have a Emperor 280 in my 25gal tank and am very happy with it but to use the Emperor 400 in my 80gal I'm going to have to cut the hood because of its size, this is my only drawback to getting it right now. I was just wondring what every one else thinks.

Oh yeah my main filter is a fulval 404..

AquaClear 500 vs. Emperor 400

I was going to say the Emperor 400 (great filters) but since the Fluval 404 is only doing 340 gallons an hour.I'd go with the AC500 to add more filtering per hour

i would go with the ac500 also, it is cheaper and has more power. just a thought though. I recently had to decide between the two (last week) and decided on the ac500 because of the volume of water it pumps. I just ordered it and am awaiting its arrival when it comes, i will have a pp 300 and an ac500 on my 65, i will be more pleased with that.

Thanks for your suggestions.. I'm thinking your both right volume is more important with Oscars, besides I can always add a bio-wheel to my fulval 404... And the way I am I will just add the emperor as a 3rd filter down the road ....

:D
