aqua salt

How often should I add aquarium salt to my tank? I am trying to lower the ph level. I have a 30 gal. tank with 5 piranahs, very small(1/2 inch). I have tried changing 20% of the water for the last four days in a row but it keeps rising. Does anyone have any other suggestions that might be helpful.

adding salt will actually raise the ph slightly. You only need to add it once then only the amount to match your water changes. Never add more salt due to water evaporation as the salt concentration stays the same.
Driftwood will lower your ph

If you already have high ph water there is almost nothing you can do short of filtering your water that will lower it reliably. Driftwood and peat moss can be used but their effect on ph can change dramaticly over time. CO2 lowers ph and oxygen raises ph, so if you have a bubble wand or other source of extra aeration try removing it for a few days and see if that has any effect, take into account that a fish will die faster of lack of oxygen then of higher ph so dont take it out if it is the only source of oxygen.. however most filters these days are pretty good at encorperating some form of gas exchange. Try some driftwood like Tony suggested and monitor the ph after its been in a few days
