angelfish

I bought an angelfish a few days ago, It was big in the 10gal at the store with all these small ones and felt sorry for it since I have a 55 gal with 2 other angelfish,,that USED to be so aggresive since they grew with the oscars. Anyway this angel is orange like a orangecap and a wee smaller than my larger zebra looking ones. I was worried about the 2 bigger ones beating the new one, since they have kept my tenfoil barb and silver dollar in hiding for so long. But The orange one is twiching some and has the bigger 2 staying on there side of 55 gal. And good news the silver dollar swims like he's not afraid of anything anymore. The only prob I am really worried about since someone brought the orange one back to store is do you think it has something or is it like o's and twiched at certain times?

Hum? I have never noticed my angels twitching at all, not even during the mating rituals. So in that respect I ll say that they are not like the O's.
It also troubles me that it is a full grown angel. Was it in a tank with younger angels at the pet store? If so its probably because the breeder had brought this one in with the youngsters for some reason. At this point I can't tell you what the reason is. It could be that it was not producing, or it can not be used for breeding because of some genetic disorder.

One of the more common genetic disorders in angels is a disease effecting their equilibrium. Its charachterized by not being able to swim straight. They usually find a corner and have their nose pointed up in the air with their tail down toward the bottom. When stimulated they will swim okay for ahwhile and then resume the position. It should be appearant within a week (after she adjusts). It would have been a good idea to quarantine her for anyother problems (the one I mentioned above is not contagious) that might arise.

thanks candice but she swims all over the place and has made the silver dollar feel free. It's like she is the queen in there lol but the other angels are intimadated. But when i first put her or it in, both bigger tried to pick at it like they do anything else in the tank, so i was hoping maybe it was just a differant sex,,,,,,I couldn't remember if it was you or not that had breeding angels, but these would prob be worthless if that was the case since the colors vary........the other little angels at lps were just the little ones shipped in, and the lps had just put this one in with them ,,,,well after a couple of visits I couldn't take it anymore had to get! I am just not sure if I did right. she doesn't twich 100% of the time but most

after posting , I went back and watched, it only does the twitching when she gets near the other 2 zebra angels. like i said b-4 it is orange with this turquiose color on fins so I think it's a orangecap. and the wee ones at the lps store where all silver.

Yes I do have the breeding angels. Have your origanal pair every spawned, just out of curiosity?
The thing with angels is that the color of the fry don't always match the parents. It is probably because they have so many color types in their genes from all the variations that have been created. Would you be able to post a pic here?
Concerning your new angel, Just do as you've been by keeping an eye on her.

Thanks Tony, just wish I knew what the orange and turquoise one is. It's smaller than the other 2 but more more aggressive than the bigger ones that are mean......seems you have a bit of everything!

Its hard to tell off of the picture due to the glare. But it looks like a blue blusher Angel crossed with a orngecapped Angel. Meaning you would probably call it an orngecapped blue blusher Angel. Image
